Killenaule Juvenile GAA News

March 20th 2017
Well done to all our teams who played football at the weekend.  All games were played in very difficult conditions with some good displays of football being played.
Our U12D football team played in a hard fought game but lost to a stronger Clerihan team.

U12B football team had their second win of the year this time against Ballingarry in a keenly fought contest.

U14’s had their first win of the season against Ballingarry giving a much improved performance from their previous outing.

Killenaule Juvenile GAA
The 2017 season kicked off this week for the U12, U14 and U16’s football teams.
The U12s had a good win against Clonmel Og with some great passages of football being played.
The U14s played Ardfinnan in difficult windy conditions in their first game of the season. They played some good football but lost to a more efficient Ardfinnan team on the day.
The U16s also played Ardfinnan in difficult conditions, with Ardfinnan getting off to a much stronger start in the first half.  Killenaule were trailing at half time but put in a hard worked performance to come back in the second half and were unfortunate to lose by a point.
Training continues every week and new players are welcome

“Whoever Honours a Mother is like someone amassing fortune”.  Ecclesiasticus, 3:4.

This Mother’s Day we pray for Mothers around the world who agonise over this children’s futures in the harshest    environments. We think of Miriam, who appears on this Lent’s Trócaire  Box, as she wonders if she will manage to get her little daughter Maria to safety when the next storm hits Northern Honduras and floods their home.  Read Miriam and Maria’s story at www.trocaire.org/lent

A Mother’s Prayer for You

I said a Mother’s Day Prayer for you

to thank the Lord above,

for blessing me with a lifetime

of your tender hearted love.

I thanked God for the caring

you’ve shown me through the years,

for the closeness we’ve enjoyed

in time of laughter and of tears.

and so, I thank you from the heart

for all you’ve done for me

and I bless the Lord for giving me

the Best Mother there could be!

A Thought for the Week “The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.”

One Sentence Sermon: If you think you’ve got nothing to be thankful for……………. check your pulse !!!!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

CHY3 – We are presently sending out CHY3 forms and our thanks and appreciation to you their return.  As a parish we have applied and being granted charity status, which means that the Parish of Killenaule & Moyglass is now eligible to receive tax support from the Government which is another source of revenue and which we can use to pay any bills like heating, lighting or insurance.  This is our first year in the scheme and it means we can also include figures from 2016, 2015 and 2014 once they have being recorded and verified, which they have and above the threshold of €250.  If you have any concerns please give us a ring and we would be delighted to clarify.  Our sincere thanks for your support and generosity.

Adoration Assembly Day will be held in St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, on Sat 1st April at 9am.  Mass & Holy Hour by Fr. Dan Woods. Talk by Fr. Patrick Cahill, native of Thurles.  All welcome.

Amoris: Let’s talk family, Let’s be Family Programme & National Novena to our Lady of Knock.

We are delighted to announce that the one-year programme of preparations for the World Meeting of Families 2018 will be formerly launched during this year’s National Novena to Our Lady of Knock, which takes place at the Marian Shrine in Knock from  14-22 June 2017.  This coincides exactly with the beginning of WNMOF 2018 the following year on 21st Aug 2018, the Feast of Our Lady of Knock.  We are excited with how preparations are going for our interactive multi-media platform of pastoral and catechetical resources to prepare for WMOF2018.  The                programme will consist of a phased family & parish-based programmes that will include opportunities for reflection / engagement and also catechetical moments drawing on themes from Amoris Laetitia.  We are busy putting together all the elements that make up this programme and seeking to do so in a language that will be accessible to all.  Members of our team are consulting with representatives of each Diocese to develop the programme and discuss how it can be made widely available to families and parishes.

Life Reflection   When Leonardo da Vinci was painting his  masterpiece “The Last Supper”, he looked for a model for his Christ. At last, he located a  Christ in one of the Churches of Rome who was lovely in life and features, a young man name Pietro Bandinelli. Years passed, and the painting was still unfinished. All the disciples had been portrayed save one—Judas Juda Iscariot. Now he started to look for a man whose face was hardened and distorted by life and at last he found a beggar on the streets of Rome with a face so villainous that he shuddered when looked at him. He hired the man to sit for him as he painted the face of Judas on his canvas. When he was about to dismiss the man, he said, “I have not yet found out your name.” “I am Pietro Bandinelli,” he replied, “I also sat for you as your model of Christ.” The sinful life of years so disfigured the once fair face of the young man that it now looked as though it were the most villainous face in all Rome! (Indian Christian).
